The Robot
Is this truly autonomous?
Yes. Once a property is mapped, the Turf Runner handles the mowing path on its own using centimeter-accurate GPS and 3D cameras. Your operator handles transport between sites and logistics while the Turf Runner handles the cutting.
What happens if someone walks in front of it?
Safety is built into every layer. The Turf Runner uses 3D cameras and sensors to detect people, animals, vehicles, toys, debris, and other obstacles in its path. When it sees something, it automatically slows down, stops, or navigates around it. If it can't safely proceed, it stops completely and alerts the operator. There's also a physical emergency stop button for immediate shutdown. The mower is always aware of its surroundings and will never mow into something it can see.
What property types can it handle?
Anything a standard commercial zero-turn can mow, the Turf Runner can mow. Residential lawns, commercial properties, HOA common areas, office parks, sports fields. It handles slopes, obstacles, and complex layouts the same way an experienced operator would.
How does mapping work?
Drive the mower around the property edges in learn mode to create a boundary. Flag anything you want it to avoid. Takes minutes per property, and you only need to do it once.
What deck sizes are available?
The Turf Runner is available in standard commercial deck sizes: 36", 42", 48", 52", 60", and 72". Same sizes you're already running on your zero-turns.
What happens when it breaks or gets stuck?
The Turf Runner is built on a standard commercial zero-turn platform. Your team can service the engine, blades, belts, and hydraulics the same way they service any mower in your fleet today. The autonomy electronics are separate and monitored by us. If the Turf Runner gets stuck or detects a fault, it stops safely and alerts your operator over cellular. Our team can diagnose issues remotely in real time and push software fixes over the air. Mechanical problems your shop can handle. Autonomy problems we handle.
What weather conditions stop it?
The Turf Runner operates in the same conditions as any commercial zero-turn. If it's too wet or dangerous for a crew member to mow, it's too wet for the Turf Runner. Lightning, standing water, and unsafe traction conditions trigger an automatic stop.
Can one operator run multiple units in a day?
Yes. One operator can transport and manage multiple Turf Runners across properties in a single day. The mower handles the cutting autonomously while the operator moves to the next site, handles edging, or manages other crew tasks.
Pricing and Business
What does it cost?
Two options: $28,000 to own it plus $500/mo for software and connectivity, or $1,100/mo all-in with Robot-as-a-Service. The Turf Runner operates at $6.86/hr compared to $25.15/hr for a human operator on a zero-turn.
How many labor hours does one Runner save?
Every hour the Turf Runner mows is an hour you don't need a crew member on a zero-turn. The Turf Runner costs $6.86/hr to operate. A crew member on a mower costs $25.15/hr. That's $18 saved per mowing hour, before you factor in no-shows, turnover, or overtime.
Who's liable if it damages property?
Turf Foundry carries product and business liability coverage. You maintain your standard commercial landscaping insurance, same as you would with any equipment on a job site. Liability allocation, insurance requirements, and incident handling are all defined in writing before deployment. This is standard in the industry.
Software and Integration
How does proof of service work?
The Turf Runner logs GPS coverage during each job and generates a coverage map. That map gets attached to the invoice automatically through the Turf platform. Fewer billing disputes, faster payment.
Is there an app for operators?
Yes. Operators manage the Turf Runner, view fleet status, control scheduling, and monitor jobs from the Turf app. Everything from the dashboard is accessible on your phone in the field.
What do my customers see?
Your customers get their own app experience. They receive service notifications, can view coverage maps when a job completes, see their service history, and pay invoices directly from their phone. No phone calls, no paper invoices.
